Is there a way to get my Versa to shift into gear faster. When changing from 2nd to 3rd or from 1st to 2nd there is that little drift back then forward, i want to take away that lag...is that possible. If so, what do I need to get , or change, etc.....does it just need a short shifter or what? its not like i want to hot rod my versa, I just want a little more response when shifting gears...thanks for your help guys....

You can learn to shift faster I haven't seen anything about a short throw shifter yet, but would be personally interested in getting one.A real ghetto and crappy way to do is cut the shifter itself shorter, you'll be reaching down lower and it gives the feeling of a shorter throw(NOT RECOMMENDED)

To answer simply: Practice shifting faster.

Is there a clutch delay valve ( CDV ) on the Versa?

assuming you are talking about M/T.. Every shift has it's own lag , the VERSA clutch is hydraulic , i.e it use pumps , by pressing the clutch pedal you activate a pump that activate a piston which pull away the clutch disc... - the delay your are talking about is after you shifted the gear and releasing the pedal - it's not respose as fast as you think it will since the pumps need to do their jobs.. - unlike a clutch that operate by metal cable - pressing the pedal cause to pull a lever with that cable .. and it suppose to be more responsive..

as for the drift. try to shift like in old trucks - before releasing the clutch pedal after your have shifted a gear , step a bit on the exelerator up to 1500 RPM release ,and then relase the cluch pedal - it might look longer procedure but it might avoid the drifts - try and let us know ..

The easiest way that I have found is like this:

1. Rev the engine (in gear) up to 3000 - 4000 RPMs 2. Depress the clutch just enough to get the shift in an out of gears (shouldn't even be but maybe an inch / inch and a half.3. The second you get into the next gear, give the engine a little love and drop off the clutch.

- If you do this right, not only will you not feel ANY shift shock, you can also avoid waiting for the RPMs to drop what feels like forever...

However, if you do this wrong, you will hear a grinding noise, meaning you didn't press the clutch down far enough...

BUT if you can get it right, it makes driving on the highway so much more fun / easier to accelerate...

it takes alot of practice. pretty soon you get it down so its just like...blah...that fast. I kinda do it all in 1 motion. As I'm moving the stick down or up to shift at the same time I'm also pressing in the clutch and instantly pressing the gas and letting go of the clutch. Just say the word "dot" as fast as you can...its a little faster then that.

I took a reaction test before just to see how fast it was and I got 0.00. It was instant. Of corse I did that 1-10 times but it was still cool. My friends would always tell me my reaction time was crazy insane inhuman fast...maybe thats why I'm so good at games.

That use to matter when I played cs but I retired from that and I just kick back and play WOW now....its less stressful.
