that i can turn the light above the rear veiw mirror on and off. but first of all the problem that i wanna try attack first is turning it off, cause you see when ever i open my driver side door the light turns on and doesnt turn off till i close my door. the weird thing is that when i open the passenger side door, the light doesnt turn on, weird. so is there a way where i can turn it off then turn it back on whenever i want it too?

Probably would have to get to the wires and wire in a switch.

My passenger side turns it on sometimes, it supposed to, there's just a problem with my switch on the door jam.

you could try to rig a switch like in the coupe/fastbacks. But a quick way to do it doesn't exist.

as far as your pass door not switching the light on, sounds like a bad door ajar switch/disconnected door ajar switch. If you look right above the striker, there is a black oval piece with (best description) an accordianed circular piece. That's your switch. It's grounded by the screw that holds it in place. Check it to make sure it's grounded (aka screwed down tight), there's no corrosion on it and that it's plugged in. If it still doesn't work, try your driver side switch on your pass side plug. If it works then, get a new switch.

Sort of related but funny. My light comes on breifly every time I hit a big bump, which in cleveland is quite often. If I pretend it didn't happen, it drives the passenger nuts.

I know how. There's a switch that goes in and out by the door. Open the door and you can push the switch to test. It's right below or above door lock mechanism on the car, not on the door. If you remove rear interior panel, you have an access to the wiring. I know this because my driver side never worked, so one day I remove the rear interior panel and fixed it. Looked like previous owner unplugged it. You can splice wires and add a switch somewhere. Just remove interior panel and you will know what I'm talking about. It's an easy job.
