Is there a recent Transmission TCU software update?

A forum for lovers of Infiniti's hot-rod crossover, the FX! In 2014, all FX models will be named Infiniti QX70, in line with Infiniti's new naming structure.

Good morning all,

I hope everything is going well.
Quick question regarding the second gen FX35...has Infiniti put out a recent transmission software update or re-flash procedure for our transmissions?
I have noticed that my FX35 recent purchase has a tough time trying to find what gear to go to, and it bucks or shudders from 1st to 3rd.
It also jumps RPM's when decelerating, or slowing down...it jumps to around 2200 RPN, then settles back down once the gear is found.

Is there anything that can be done for this behavior? Was a software or re-flash procedure ever issued?
I cannot believe that Infiniti/Nissan just let this issue go if others have it. not sure if this is an isolated incident or more people have it.

Thanks so much for all the help! Greatly appreciate it! :dblthumb:

Well…it’s too bad that no one had any answers for me. I was hoping that someone had a solution or some help.
I actually ended up calling my local Infiniti dealer, and they were more than happy to look things up for me.
There is indeed an update, so I made an appointment and will let everyone know what they did.
Not sure what this will cost, but will let you know.

I’ll be in touch.
Take care!

I remember reading the same for a Transmission update, but I didn't get around to confirming it. I also assumed it was the earlier models 2009-2012. I have 2015 and I'm also experiencing the same issues :frown:
Please keep us posted. Thank you.

Thank you for the information.
I just spoke with my Infiniti dealership, and they did confirm that there is a TCU AND ECU software update per a service bulletin. They are charging me $190 for the update. I feel its a bit high, but I guess it take a bit of time to do the procedure.

Once I get the invoice when I pick up the FX, I will let you know the exact service bulletin name or number.
You, and others, may want it done.
I will also report back as to how it drives with the applied software update.

Thanks!

It's probably this one, but it isn't recent. It came out in November of '12:

You are correct sir…that is the one!
I have not had a chance to pick it up yet…too busy. :(
I hope to have it by Monday, and I will report back to let you know how she drives after the software update. :dblthumb:

UPDATE:

Hey all, got the FX back, and what a difference!
It feels like a totally different car. The shifts are crisp and smooth, and no more bucking and searching for a gear.
The RPM’s are not jumping around either. I highly recommend this update to anyone that has not done it yet. Massive improvement!

Hope this helps!

Hi to all,

Nice thread, having the same problem with transmission on Infiniti QX70 2014.

@Brewcity1
So if I understood right this update ITB12-064A, although is from 2012 would help to update the transmission also on Infiniti 2014 year model?

There doesn't need to be a bulletin for there to be a firmware update. N/I issues tweaked firmware all the time but it's buried in Consult3+, there's no published reference for it. The only way to tell is to initiate a "reprogram" with C3+ and see if shows an update available. If it's blank, then the firmware is already the latest.

Thanks! So the only way to know would be to go to the Infiniti dealer and have the firmware checked then?
