is happening? It's essentially when it's cold, but even does it when a bit warm.
The delay for example, is when i back out of the driveway into the road,
switch to drive. That delay is sometimes as long as 4 or 5 seconds! But if I
go from reverse to 2nd, it is fine and quick. Can anyone help with this????
And have an easy solution to fix!?!
Thanks!

This just happened recently at ~180,000 miles. Car is fairly babied. The one
thing that really hasn't been kept up is transmission flushes unfortunately.
Would everyone agree that needs to happen asap to save the transmission from
any further damage? And then go from there. I'm just curious as to what will
stop this and get it back to normal.

Check the condition of your transmission fluid. If it's not pinkish-red, and/or smells burnt or feels gritty, you should change your transmission fluid. If you want to DIY, you can drop the pan and change out the filter, which will change out more fluid than a drain and fill. There's an excellent guide here. An in-line transmission filter (installed on the return line from the transmission cooler) is also a good idea to minimize particulates and wear metals that accumulate (the in-pan filter is just a screen [as far as I know] which does not do very fine filtering). A flush is also an option, but you should probably change the filter if you get it flushed to avoid the filter potentially clogging with the larger particles.

Next time:
Start the car, let idle for 30 seconds, shift ino all gears one at a time, into that gear then to neutral, all gears.
Still in the garage foot on brake shift to R for about the count of 10 then to D for 10 seconds.
Now drive out and see what happens!

Done but with no change. More delay if any...lol. Although, after the last hold of 10 seconds in drive, i then had to take it out of gear to back out of driveway.
I'm going to throw some Seafoam Trans Tune in there tomorrow.
Evetually get to changing fluid soon.

Seems it'd be doing the delay into all gears if drive is doing it.

yeah, been reading up on that thorough tutorial and will probably go that route soon. It's most likely inevitable.
