I made a post about my low fuel sensor not working and I was told the FPCU has nothing to do with the low fuel sensor so then I looked to the 1994 q45 service Manuel and I found no Low fuel sensor control unit so.

If you are asking about the fuel level sending unit, read Tangalora's benchmark fuel pump replacement post in IOM.

We've had a '92 for more than 7 years and have never seen a low fuel light or message. I run the tank down to the last 1/2 gallon of gas and nothing. We just bought a '95 and while browsing the owners manual saw a notation about it displaying a low fuel message on the message centre. I ran it practically empty to get an idea of how the gauge reflects reality in the new car and didn't get any low fuel message. Has anybody ever seen one?

I get the low fuel message spontaneously. The Q display can be kinda erratic.

I rarely run the tank that low, but I do think I've seen it come on. It's calibrated to about 4 gals, IIRC.

It is around 3 or so, depending on how bent the sender arm on installation of the fuel pump.

Wise owners never go below ¼ tank for extended pump life.

Entirely separate sensor from gauge sensor, just a tiny metal cylinder with an internal float that grounds a wire when ~~2.5 gallons remain so 19.5 gallons consummed.

Everytime I replace the fuel pump [twice] the oem sensor gets more inaccurate.....................it has been 97k since last pump and a real 1/2 tank shows 1/4 on inside but the low fuel message still works or it did 3 years ago.

I have noticed the same issue recently, only when freezing outside, upon startup on inclined driveway-even with over 1/2 tank of fuel {gauge reads correctly},message goes away upon driving a few hundred feet.....I then put iso-heet in tank and message doesnt come back ....I wonder if a small amount of water in fuel is freezing causing low fuel warning sender to stick?

I've actually ran out of gas due to the silly hose that starts to leak (too much fuel pressure kept blowing the hose). I didn't see any warning light or message (I don't think there is one) ... The steering just became hard and luckily the car could do another 25 feet for me to be able to park in a parking lot. Then it died. This is on my 93 Q.

Maybe it could but I had the BRAKE PADS WORN/TAIL LIGHTS INOPERATIVE signal on my message display and it blocked it from any other messages.

Mine gives me false low fuel messages, no matter the season.

But, same as yours, it goes out after a few seconds.

I usually fill up at about 1/4 or 1/8, but I have seen the "low fuel" warning with an illuminated gas pump, if I'm not mistaken.

I get the same thing... There are certain things you just live with in Q's.

I got the low fuel light a 3 or four times when the tank was above half. Have not got it since replacing the alternator after it went bad 2 months ago.

Never seen that message in all the years I've had mine. Is this elusive message in the message center or an idiot light?

It's on the right, where the trip mileage displays.

Or on the left, if you have a JDM car....
