Post

Hi folks,

My last post was 3 years ago when I acquired my 2009 M45S. It has been 3 years of bliss with the rocket. That said, I have been car shopping and am at the proverbial 'fork in the road' IF I decide to part with my baby:

Get screwed on the trade-in, or sell on web classifieds (ebay, NICO, craigslist, autotrader, etc.). Based on the huge gap trade-in value offered so far ($17K/$18K) and what I am seeing as a 'market value' on KBB/NADA and classified sites (great condition retail, $26K-$30K), I am leaning toward splitting the gap by marking to 'sell fast'.

So I wanted your opinions: either (a) sell the $63K stickered, 4yo, pampered, serviced and loaded cream puff for a 'song' in the low $20ks, or (b) avoid the possible poor market for a RWD sport sedan in the sometimes-wintery northeast (NJ) along with the hassles of selling/listing/dealing with oddball strangers, etc.

The car is amazing. Dealer maintained at every recommended interval... I have 4 snows on separate alum rims... almost every option possible that year (see below)... 62K highway miles... never even a shopping cart's worth of damage/accident.

So don't answer that I should NOT sell (a possible option)... just give me your opinions on IF I do sell, do you think I will struggle for months to find a buyer (even at a bargain price) and endure creepos and headaches?

Here are the features:

1. Powertrain:
Engine: V8, 4.5 Liter
Transmission: Automatic, 5-Spd w/Overdrive & Manual Mode
Drivetrain: RWD

2. Accessory Packages:
Premium Pkg
Technology Pkg
Sport Pkg

3. Options:
Traction Control, ABS (4-Wheel), Air Conditioning, Power Windows, Power Door Locks, Adaptive Cruise Control, Power Steering, Telescoping Wheel, AM/FM Stereo, MP3 (Multi Disc), Bose Premium Sound, XM Satellite, Navigation System, DVD System (Rear Entertainment), Bluetooth Wireless, Dual Air Bags, Side Air Bags, F&R Head Curtain Air Bags, Cooled Seats, Dual Power Seats, Leather Seating, Moon Roof, HID Headlamps, Premium Wheels (19" low profile sport).

THANKS!

Glenn

It looks like the retail for your car is anywhere between 25-30. I think 20% is a fair amount for a retailer to make off of it. Personally, I would work hard to sell it myself, but I understand giving it up for cheaper. Selling cars is a tough job.

Quick answer: Yes, sell it. A few extra thousand would probably be worth it when all is said and done.

if you have the time sell it yourself

if you don't try to get the dealer to give you more, I would't trade it in for no less than $20k :nono: She'll be sitting at the lot the next day for over $26k

anything over what the dealer is giving you ($18k) is extra money for your next deal.

Take a photo on your phone of their drivers' license. I can't tell you how many irresponsible people just want to burn rubber in someone else's car... and you can't legally beat them with a baseball bat when they do.

I say: SELL IT!! There is definitely a market for the 08+ M45 specially in the sport package and considering yours is fully loaded with the adv tech including rear ent. package I believe you should easily sell this one!! Mine was an 08 M45 sport as well with same packages... I miss it dearly and wish I could jump on this opportunity now but still can't :gotme that being said, GLWS!! I recently saw a post on here from someone looking to buy an M45 so search the next couple pages on here you might find the post and also advertise your car here on Nicoclub since this is where you'll find buyers who really appreciate what you have!! :dblthumb:

Something to add to your thoughts on price... I sold my 08 M45 equally loaded as yours last year in September for $27k with 78k miles!! I had a few aftermarket mods that went with the car so I wasn't about to go lower... I sold it to a friend that had been asking for it for quite a while and one day I said "ok" you want it? $27k is the price!! He took it in a heartbeat and we were at the bank the next day!! Needles to day... I miss the beast!! Again, GLWS!! Completely priced, you should sell it fast!! :dblthumb:

I received almost 20g trade on 2008m35 loaded with 80 plus on odometer in June 2013,
from Infiniti dealer . I assume your big v8 and lower mileage should get you more,
most dealers started at 17 but were able to move, try a little harder to push dealer, or take your lumps selling car financing it etc with every kid that wants a rocket ship. don't forget the 2 g in sales tax you save trading it in as well.
