Is There a Difference Between the S13 and S14 KA24DE Distributor?

I need to get a new distributor for my S14 and I have read other people's posts that have said the distributor for the S13 and S14 KA24DE engine is different. For some reason, i don't think this is true.

The reason I ask is because I plan on buying a used distributor for my KA24DE and posting a WTB ad in the marketplace forum. It seems like there are plenty of parts for sale, especially s13 parts, and i want to know if i was offered a distributor from an s13 ka24de if it would be compatible with my s14 engine.

the S13 has an external coil for its distributor, the S14 has a coil inside the distributor.many here change to S13 distributor cause you can put a better coil in.

i see. so if i wanted to do this little swap, what would i need?

the timing isn't different though...? i wouldn't think it is, but i'm not positive.
