Is there a Bose radio with in-dash CD from another year that can replace '92?

I would like an in-dash CD to replace my trunk mounted Sony unit but reading some posts suggests that the Bose speakers should be attached to a Bose head unit. Are there radios with in-dash CD that fit the '92, even if the harness has to be modified?

ThanksKen K

Not too sure about the Q's Iwas able to find one for my Acura with only minor mods. If you want to keep your bose speakers and change your head unit, Circuit City carried an adaptor by Peripheral (40 or 50 bucks) that would allow this. I have used Kenwood, Pioneer, and another brand with mine without any other mod.

It appears you simply want to replace the headunit with an in dash CD and retain your bose speakers, correct?

If thats the case, any standard square nissan double DIN BOSE headunit will drop right in. if you use one from a 95ish and later, youll need to get the adapter from Joe. its like $15.

Avoid earlier (pre-95) clarion in dash units, like what the j30 had.... Those are crappy and often fail..

I run a 99 G20 head unit in my car and it works great. I can control my 6CD changer and the in dash...

That is exactly correct. I have had my 92 head out and there are two brackets that mount one on either side of the head unit and the brackets then mount to the dash.

So what you are saying is that all of the double DIN head units accept those brackets and mount without any trouble? That would be great, as my trunk mounted CD unit console-mounted controller appears to be dead.

You say that I should look for a radio newer than 95, but do all of the more recent models fit? I would hate to expend the cash and find that the head unit did not fit....

Yeah pretty much... The newer ones all fit... Anything up to like 02/03 will be fine.... Just be sure theyre the same square/flat shape.... Often times ones from later maximas and altimas will pop up on ebay for good prices, and TECHNICALLY they will swap in but it wont fit right....

Go find some stuff and I can tell you if it will drop into the Q with the adapter i referred to.
