Okay after reading the AIV removal several times, I finally think I understand it. There are two little hoses that I plug with a screw each and the hose the connects to the air intake box that needs to be plug and the long hose that connect to the exhaust manifold. Is this all the hoses that needs to be plug? Then Just take everything out that are with the AIV? Please respond back soon because I plan on doing this mod first thing in the morning. Should I also gut out my catalytic converter? By the way I have a stock 1990 Nissan 240sx.

correct. two tiny vacuum lines, one hose going to airbox/intake, and one hose coming from the exhaust manifold.

there are all four lines. the exhaust line has a hose coming off of a metal hose thing, but your best best is plugging that rubber hose. im going to weld up the metal one after i pass smog in june...-Enz0

theres also a plug that plugs into the sensor, you just need to unplug that and let it hang. but other than that you just plug the lines. BTW personally, i wouldnt gut my cat conv. if its really that bad, just spend 60 bux and buy a nice carsound high flow cat. its legal too

another opinion: buy a test pipe and some metal gaskets. that way the gaskets can be reused as much as u like. i switch in the cat for smog, and 10 min later back to test pipe for track events...simple-Enzo
