Just wondering if the versa's exhaust is stainless steel. If so, I was thinking about having the center muffler removed and have a vibrant stainless 12" resonator welded in for better flow and more sound. If anyone has installed a resonator instead of the muffler, how does it sound? Im running the stillen axle back currently. Will this mod void my warranty? just wondering, thanks for the help.

That's a good question. I would believe most exhaust pipes are stainless these days including the Versa but I'm not sure.

Maybe the piping is but I swear I see rust on my 3 day old to me 2009 1.6 versa. Then again maybe that was another cost cutter.

Stainless steel cost more. Most likely aluminized steel for corrosion resistance, but not rust-proof. You won't find stainless steel in anything other than up-scale and luxury models. If most mass produced cars leave the factory with stainless systems, the aftermarket would be out of business.

With the resonator it'll probably be a little louder. What you're doing is basically piecing together your own stainless cat-back exhaust. Obviously, it'll void your warranty on the factory exhaust system. For everything else, generally they'd have to prove that whatever defect or failure is caused by the alterations you've made. Read the terms and conditions in your warranty manual to be sure.
