I was wondering after seeing this thread: zer...64002 which air filter is best OEM or AC Delco?

Would restrictions such as that of the AC Delco have any affect on performance?

The better the filter, the more restrictive it is.

One way to determine is to discover what the largest particle allowed is then spread the respective filter media flat and measure area.

For a little over $10 from Joe, very difficult to beat OEM.

$12 from the dealer though...Joe, you will have to pay $10 shipping.Back to your OP question...I think the answer is as plan as day by looking at the data!! If you can find a AC Delco for your car, go for it but they are expensive. For the price, the OEM from the dealer is a sure bet.

5% off this month and fixed shipping others.

One must plan ahead and order mass quantities before they are needed.

Call and ask about specials. As for the filter quality, I have tried MANY and OEM is indeed best. Stock up and buy bulk from Joe/Scottsdale.

Yeah... I always try to have them toss in a few air, fuel, and oil filters with other orders if my stock is getting low.

Thanks to Lino for posting the Rock Auto site I found the AC Delco filter for $28 shipped. Here is the part number: ACDELCO Part # A1313C, Alternate/OEM Part Number(s): 25175291

I called many local places and most don't stock the filter or they charge insane prices. Rock Auto proved to be the best this time. A local dealer wanted $38 and a local store wanted $29 but I would have to go to those places twice (To pay and pick up) so the cost of fuel makes the cost even more.

Rock Auto wants $28 shipped (to my door).

Anybody want to pitch in for the $1700 required to test a filter (OEM VS others)?

We used to have a member who went by the name Paul Wall and he was insistent on using nothing but OEM parts. Those were the days.

We know who you are. If you've been kidnapped by a laid off GM parts counter guy and are being held hostage at an abandoned dealership then I can understand your last post, but only if it was coerced, after 40 lashes, to save your life. You can always delete it when they let you free.

BTW, I ordered two OEM air filters from IOS today for $29 shipped.

Especially considering that they have them listed for $15.62 on the website. Multiply that by 2 and then add shipping... 1+1=11 :)

The Nissan (Red) OEM looking filter in mine appears to be made by a very respected filter manufacturer. :-)

The particular Nissan branded filter in mine looks to have been manufactured by Wix. Once a year NAPA has a half price sale on NAPA gold filters that are currently maunfactured by Wix. During the last sale, I bought a case of the Napa Gold oil filters as both of my other vehicles use the same filter. I think I paid $6.50 for each during the sale.

OEM oil filters from that other car company are purported to be on par with the SuperTech filters from WM. Some people (past and present) associated with that car company prefer Wix filters over OEM.

It increased my comfort level with Nissan OEM filters after seeing the one in mine looks like it was manufactured by Wix.

It would be great if Nissan would offer a 1/2 price filter sale at the same time of year when Wix manufactured filters go on sale through Napa.

Unless there is a "half price blow out sale" on Wix filters, Joe's prices are fair enough in my book.
