It has the most pony's and seems to be faster on paper than a 350Z. Has anyone raced a 350Z? Any thoughts?

The 2007 350Z with the new 306hp version of the 3.5 would get my vote. It's damn fast in a G35 (about the same as an M45) so the Z with ~300lbs less weight would be "the one".

I've raced a few Z's (probably 2003-2005).

I've beat them. One even had a twin turbo and a Stillen exaust, but he missed a gear, other wise i would ahve gottne smoked. That car was fasssssssssst.

I suspect that the new G37 may be faster in terms of 0-60 and 1/4 mile, but may not be in terms of top speed (or getting there). The V-8 has a lot of oomph at high speeds!

But, you also kinda need to define what you mean by "faster". The M45 probably accelerates as fast (or faster) than most of the Nissan/Infiniti line. Certainly, when you compare to the G35 Coupe and 350Z, it probably will come down to the experience of the driver in any given case for a 1/4 mile run for example.

Note, of course, that the predicted performance of the new Nissan GT-R (to be released soon, so is not a strict answer to you question) will beat all these current-gen Nissan/Infiniti cars for sure.

I interpreted the original question to mean "fastest, unmodded, stock factory cars in the current Nissan/Infiniti models sold in dealerships today".

I meant stock vs. stock. Good points above. Heres a website I found that has all car 1/4 mile and 0-60 times.

Seems on the slow end for the M45...

what about the old 300zxTT they are faster in the 1/4 than the 350 but im not sure about being faster than the M45. then again they are all the slowest cars in the world with the wrong driver behind them. cars are only are fast as the driver. who cares how fast they could be on paper.

Get down to reality ppl. This car is a boat. I have owned a 97 Supra TT and 93 RX7 TT. Although my 03 M45 is no slouch, both of those cars would have smoked the M45 in every performance category stock. 0-60, 1/4 mile, 60 to 120 highway action, all of it. The M45 does not have aggressive enough shifting. The clutchless manual is a joke as well (even with the TSB done) It's definitely a sleeper, but it would lose to a stock 350Z. I still like my car as a cruiser, but it ain't no V8 killer!

My flagship(hehe) has so far taken down a newer style eclipse, 350Z convertible, a G35, and some sort of newer honda wanna be harley. I did race a last body style(before the brand new version) Cobra. I had him til 60 then he took me. I personally think the car will take most of the Zs minus the exception of a good driver on the stick. Time for some mods so we can take it in to our own hands...whooohaha!

I didn't say ANY car...what I meant is stock nissan/infiniti product. My last car was a Z06 which stock ran 12.4-12.6 @ 113-116 mph. It was fast enough for me even though when I took it to byron dragway there were plenty of cars there that woulda smoked it. Just curious if the 4.5 liter V-8 is nissan/infiniti's strongest motor. The FX45 feels pretty dam fast for a car of it's size as well.

Stock, yes.

They have a larger engine in the QX56 and Titan, but, as I recall, with less actual HP than the VK45, although the torque may be higher.

Again, it is important to remember that the Nissan GT-R may end up being the most powerful engine that Nissan releases ... soon!

This I know. My Supra ran mid 11's with street tires with the single turbo. I murdered 99.99% on the road, especially corny domestics with their corny interiors and exterior styling. My point is, the M45 is not the fastest Nissan. No way in hell. IT would get burned by a stock 350Z, without a doubt.

Well, if were talking about modding....i wonder if you did drop the 5.6 in the M45 would it be faster. They are rated at 315hp with 390 torque....ours are like 340hp, 330 torque, but there is alot of aftermarket engine parts for that engine. They should come out witha special edition M56....sounds crazy...and crazy fast...i would buy one...of course 3 years later after the rich people give them back off of lease!!!!

Maybe a 6 speed with a good driver. An automatic Z would NOT be able to in my opinion. Stock automatic 350Z's are not that fast considering there in the sports car segment. Plenty of other stock cars out there that would spank it that cost less. Honda S2000, WRX, GTO, hek even a Lumina SS would kill it. The M45 in my opinion would beat an auto Z. If anyone has one and is willing to line up anywhere in the chicago area I am willing to find out...

I believe the 5.6 is heavier than the 4.5L and right off the bat you would lose probably a second in the 1/4. Plus getting the other parts to put on that engine, you would be better off doing custom work to your stock engine
