No. The I30/I35 were a Euro Maxima. The current M was designed as an Infiniti. The previous M was a JDM Gloria.

Actually, the current M was designed as a Nissan Fuga, sold only in Japan far as I know.

Comparing it to a Maxima makes no sense, it's much bigger, it's RWD / AWD (depending on trim level) as opposed to FWD. Your Saab buddy needs to do more research.

The Fuga is also available in Taiwan. I saw quite a few there a year ago.

The Fuga has a great feature where the passenger seat has a "recliner" feature with an extending footrest!

I envy the Asian car market! They get some of the greatest features on their cars that people in North America can never get...

Unfortunately, no longer a Nissan or Infiniti, but continuing here at NICO!

Apparently, the JDM Cedric was another "previous M" lookalike ... the pictures look quite similar for sure.

Infiniti's are also in the Middle East market.

Y34 Cedric and Gloria are the same, just different trim levels, from what I recall, the Gloria is slightly higher priced.

It's part of the "premium" package available with the M45, but not the M45 Sport unfortunately...

Best regards, Matt

Exactly.

The I30/I35, however, IS a Euro Maxima.

It is (or maybe was...I think it may have been phased out within the last year) sold in various European countries as the Maxima QX.

Your Saab buddy was probably referring to the Teana that somewhat resembles the Fuga/M-Series. Built on a derivative of the FFL platform used for the US assembled A34 Maxima, L31 Altima and others, the Teana's chassis-code is J31 and is not one of the FRL/FM platform-mates (Z33, V35, S50 and Y50).

The car we know as the A33 2000-03 Maxima mainly sold only in the North American & Canadian markets while our 2000-2004 A33 I30/I35 was, and may still be sold in many other markets as Cefiro, Maxima, Maxima QX and so on where the J31 Teana styled car has yet to replace it.

A Line Is Drawn
