Tell us what programs and services have been CUT since since the beginning of the war??? Unless one wants to use the DC definition of a cut - which would be "spending more, but not as much more as we wanted" Spending has been climbing out of control!

Out of control spending has been largely credited with the power shift in congress in 2006 - which doesn't make a lick of sense - except in that the GOP base was so demoralized after being betrayed by their representatives and senators - that they didn't show up at the polls.

In response to the original theory... how in the hell could the GOP cover up a recession? The mainstream media spends hours every day talking the economy into the toilet, and the congressional budget office has been controled by the democrat party since 2006. Even if the GOP wanted to, it would be impossible!

Out of control spending, and a war that is estimated to add 25+% to the national debt, (another 10 grand for each man, woman and child in this country) has/will be felt by all of us in several forms. Not the least of which is the reduced ability of the government to respond to the current economic disaster facing this country. That is, the disaster GW has yet to call a recession. (Which, everyone else clrearly sees.)

Contrary to what many believe, there is really only so much money to go around.
