Hello guys,

I own a 2006 G35 sedan and the brakes need changing. The local Infiniti dealership quoted me $1300 CAD, which includes all brakes + brake fluids flush + front wheel alignment + taxes. Do you guys:

1. Think that the price is too high?
2. Think that the price is high, but that Infiniti breaks last longer and thus are worth the extra bucks?
3. Think that I should get someone else to do it? If so, please recommend a shop in the Vancouver/Richmond area (Canada).

Thank you so much! I'm a noob when it comes to cars, so I'd appreciate any suggestions!

Yes the price is too high. No the OEM brakes aren't better. You can get stoptech rotor, project mu/hawk pads for 1/3 of that price. The labor is what is killing you. Just install them yourself or get someone to help you and save tons of money.

I agree. Brakes are one of the easiest things on the car to install so I have always changed my own. I haven't priced the parts, but I'll bet you can purchase 4 rotors and all pads for under $500. Shouldn't take more than a couple hours to change them all, even if you haven't done it before. Add in no more than $100 for the alignment and you've done it for less than half of what the stealership was trying to charge you.

Perhaps try going to a Nissan dealership and see what they quote you. I have been taking my car into Nissan rather than Infiniti for maintenance and they cost is much less, and presumably just as good

I suppose the labor rate may be lower, but I couldn't see them raping you any less brutally on the parts. The list price is the list price and I would think any dealership would charge that same price for the rotors and pads. A few bucks may be saved on the labor, but I couldn't imagine more than a small overall savings.

I had my brakes done at the dealer in April 09 at 85k miles. New pads and they cut the 4 rotors. $530.00
