It's all rumors. Road maps more than a year in advance are never discussed beyond executive management, because things very easily change. I'd say nothing is concrete yet, and although the possibility of ending the coupe line is there, I would take it with a grain of salt - for now. I would consider the rebranded AEM (Nismo) CAI for the A/C as a sign of what's to come.
Personally, if I ran Nissan, I would get rid of the 2.5 engine altogether and replace it with a hybrid drive train, and make 6MT on the 3.5 standard - not 1 out of every 30.
Nissan got their target market partially right - women. Almost every 2.5 AC I see on the road is being driven by a woman (no offense to anyone). But they overlooked the mid-range sports coupe audience; which they never ever marketed to. Despite that, every single 3.5 coupe is flying off the lot. You will be lucky to find 2 or 3 on ebay on any given day. And a 6MT once every few months.
I'd say it doesn't sound like they need to end the line; they need to rethink their strategy. The A/C could really bring it home if Nissan actually tried.
