Well cars usually run for about 5 years, and if sales are down then it would make sense to discontinue it. I don't mind, makes our cars more unique!

good. maybe they're seriously considering bringing back the 240 this time to compete with the toyota/subi rear drive coupe.

It's all rumors. Road maps more than a year in advance are never discussed beyond executive management, because things very easily change. I'd say nothing is concrete yet, and although the possibility of ending the coupe line is there, I would take it with a grain of salt - for now. I would consider the rebranded AEM (Nismo) CAI for the A/C as a sign of what's to come.

Personally, if I ran Nissan, I would get rid of the 2.5 engine altogether and replace it with a hybrid drive train, and make 6MT on the 3.5 standard - not 1 out of every 30.

Nissan got their target market partially right - women. Almost every 2.5 AC I see on the road is being driven by a woman (no offense to anyone). But they overlooked the mid-range sports coupe audience; which they never ever marketed to. Despite that, every single 3.5 coupe is flying off the lot. You will be lucky to find 2 or 3 on ebay on any given day. And a 6MT once every few months.

I'd say it doesn't sound like they need to end the line; they need to rethink their strategy. The A/C could really bring it home if Nissan actually tried.

I agree with funkee. There's so many girls driving altima coupes, matter of fact, every 2.5 altima coupe that I've seen at my University are drivin by girls with the exception of one guy and his is totally riced out. I once purposely parked right next to a chick with a white 2.5 coupe and she got out her car and said "what's the difference between your car and mine," and I said, "well, let me start it up," and she flipped...I really think me and Hussain should do a run around the University to shed some light on the 3.5 coupe. Long live the Altima 3.5 Coupe!!!!! :D

before i got mine i was going to get a z or a g35 but right before i was going to get one my sister ran into some heath problems so i figured id buy it for her until she can start driving, i knew it was more directed towards females than a z or g but i dont think its a one gender car (maybe thats cuz im driving it and dont want tot see it that way :chuckle: )

but i love my coupe and i know she does too, and hope it doesnt get taken off the nissan line, and it blows away its competition (accord coupe, civic coupe :barf: , and the tc, ect.)

They sell very well, especially the 2.5 coupes. I doubt it would be completely discontinued. MAYBE it would go away for a year or so before they re design it. Think how the 2007 sedan came out redesigned then the coupe the following year. :yesnod

I don't know about Nissan's market in the US, but here in Dubai, the 2008 model AC is available with the 3.5 CVT engine only. the 2.5 AC was introduced in 2010+ models. Nissan is very popular here (Altima 4 dr, 350 & 370 z,Sunny, Versa, X-trail, patrol...etc) but the AC is very rare. I believe it is the same in all the GCC countries, which counts a lot of Nissan's total sales, so I believe that discontinuing the AC could be a real thing.

If you want to see more coupes, come to Florida, there are tons of them. On any given day I see at least 5 on a 20 min commute, more if I'm just out an about going to random places. Granted, most are the 2.5s but did see 4 3.5's on the way to work last week which was odd.

One of my co-workers works for a nissan dealership and he was told that since the A/C came out in 08 g35 and g37 sales were down something like 20%. At the end of the day, the production is being stopped so that sales numbers will pick back up on the gs. He also said that nissan was considering a convertible A/C but decided against it.

Most of the AC’s is see are driven by women. That’s one reason I like modifying my car. It personalizes your car, and the right mods gives the car a more aggressive, masculine look.

Personally i don't think that would make sense for them to stop making the A/C. The g35 and g37 sales could have also fallen because the 370 had came out that same time. The G's have AWD and are in my opinion more of a luxury sports car. the A/C lets nissan tap into the 2 door FWD sports car market. it's competitors are cars such as the TC and the Civic. I think the larger internal competitor for the G's is the 370's.

I don't know, the only competition with our cars is the Accord coupe. The civic and TC are a class below, and significantly cheaper.

I really doubt those buying 2.5 coupes would even consider a G due to it being way out of their price range. Like skiski said, it's more likely that the 370z has caused that effect.

for you 3.5ers its only the accord coupe, but us little 4 bangers could be seen competing against the TC and civic, along with the forte coupe
