Is the car worth it?

So I've been looking into getting my first car, a 240sx. I came across one for sale in my neighborhood and talked to the guy about it. He said he could get 1500$ for it but told me he'd sell it for 1000$. Its a '90 Black Pignose Hatch. It has minimal rust, a 1/2in rust circle on the hatch and 1/4in circle on the strut tower in the engine bay. Also, the windows dont work because the "cables snapped," the windshield washers don't work, theres a decently sized dent on the passenger side quarter panel, and there's a clicking noise when the car is warmed up and at idle. Other then that the car is pretty clean. I don't have any pictures of it, but from this info do you guys think this car is worth 1000$? Thank you for the feedback.

washer jets are useless anyway haha, the clicking noise is most likely timing chain rattle and EVERY 240 does it so dont fret it. id offer im 900 and take her home and giver her some tlc

i agree...most 240's need work..i say do it i mean that's my opinion. Is it an older guy or like a kid?

if it NEEEDS timing chain and guide replacement, don't pay more than a grand for sure.

I'm going to wait tiill like wednesday-thursday to retalk to the guy, he said he'll hold it for me for a week. I offered hiim 800 today and he said no he wants 1000. So i'll go back and offer 900 and if he says no ill tell him nevermind then.

I wouldn't say hes old but he's not young, he's maybe in his 30s, he knows the potential of these cars though, i think thats why hes trying to be firm with the price.

lol, i think he knows about cars, but im not desperate for a 240 at the moment, i have a car to drive to work/school so i can wait. I really want a coupe, so if this doesn't go through i wont be disappoint really. Id rather wait and get a coupe for more then buy a crappy hatch that i don't really want with a ton of other peoples problems.

how many miles though? and did you check the frame rails? and under the spare tire?

it has 119xxx miles but the guy said the odometer doesn't work anymore. i did check under the spare tire and it was rust free, same as the frame rails. Only rust on the car is by the wing on the hatch, under the wheel well, and on the strut tower on the passenger side in the engine bay.

Sunroof? what other options does i have?not missing any switches is it?

And just out of curiosity, got any plans if/when you get it?

yea that's what I've read...that price for shells thats why i want it. im buying it with my uncle and dad, and its the first car ive looked at. their kinda putting it down saying i should find another car, but this seems like a good deal. it has a sunroof, power locks, power windows (that dont work) and i dont know what else SE,s come with but it is an se.

ill see if i can run over there in the next day or so and snap some pics for you guys, its like 4 blocks from my house.

and as far as plans if/when i get this 240, i will be fixing the car to make it run properly and fix the body. then i wanna do suspension, replace the bushings, add strut bars, then probably convert it to 5spd cause its currently automatic. then way off in the future either rebuild the ka and turbo it or do a sr20 swap. thats way off though.
