Hey guys,

I have a silly question for any mechanical minded M45 owners. Today, I was in a real rush and was coming to a stop. I figured I came to a complete stop and placed the car in park. However, I must have been going along the lines of 5 miles per hour, and when the park "went into gear," I heard a loud clicking noise, which was most likely the pin trying to insert itself.

My question is, am I going to see any problems with the park "gear?" I attempted to park the vehicle on a hill and I ran into no problems. Also, shifting still occurs perfectly fine.

Thanks,Adrian

Depends on how much metal you broke.

I would definitely do the pan drop and filter and O ring replacement the next time you do an mechanical ATF exchange. And it should be soon.

What do you mean by "metal that I broke?"

And how much are these checks going to run at the typical dealer?

Read Q45tech's posts. It is a mechanical esxchange of the ATF.

Old hat to us G50 owners.

The parking pawl is a rod the fits between metal guides when parked. When you are moving, you have certainly sheared if not broken metal off these guides. This metal is now doing damage to your transmission's clutches, pump, panetary gears, and torque converter. The internal filter will catch it. Read the FSM.

So how bad is the damage to the transmission?

If the filter will take it out, can I afford to wait 500 miles until the ATF and do these maintenance requirements?

Hello,Brian is right on about the transmission recommendation. With a car so nice, I would hedge my bet and do as described sooner than later. Then again, you are still under warranty...Cheers,M.L
