Im going to need a new motor soon and Im really thinking the CA would be my best bet. I want something with decent yet easily upgradeable power, higher revvs, and reliable enough for a daily driver. Why exactly do some refer to the CA as a mini RB?How easy is it to do the swap? wiring, tuning and so forth?

Definitely ca18det is a very good option which is often overlooked when considering a swap. It seems as though when you were describing what you like in an engine, ca18det sounds like a good candidate. The ease of the swap is novice to intermediate. Ca motor was my very first swap and I did it without a second hand either. You should be very happy with the ca. Just swap out things like all the original vacuum lines, radiator lines, oil pump, water pump, all the belts (including timing belt), and etc before you put it in the bay. When all else fails, ca's are so much cheaper than sr's. GOod luck!

p.s. all the info you'll ever need of the ca is in the stickies

pay special attention to the stickies....... like things NOT TO DO and you wont have the issues that some has been seeing lately

I love my CA, but def not for everyone.
