Hi Guys, like you all know I recently bought a 2013 FWD SE edition Nissan Rogue in Amethyst Black color. What I'm seeing is that my Rogue is very prone to getting stone chips and they all basically go down to the grey primer and I don't even do much of highway driving either or drive on gravel roads etc., Friend of mine who bought the same Rogue but in Super Black doesn't have a single stone chip even though they do more highway driving and have had their a few months longer than mine. I have already touched up 5 different places on the hood and just yesterday I saw a couple more. Plus there is on on the roof close to the passenger side door. There are a couple of places that have factory paint defects on my Rogue which are in the process of being authorized by Nissan to get repaired and most likely they will get the green light from what the Dealership has told me. But, I'm really frustrated by the number of stone chips I'm getting on the hood, roof, and also rear doors as well and it's still under 6000 kms. Is this the norm with Nissan cars or specifically with this particular paint Amethyst Black?

idk if that particular black is more prone to damage, but i can say this: i dont mean to sound like a jerk but: we all wanted a cheap SUV, and we got it. if you wanted a multi-stage paint job, you should have looked elsewhere. but the sticker shock would have sent you back to the Rogue.

nissan is known for having a low quality/single stage pain job, where the paint & clear coat is pretty much all in one. as much as i HATE mercedes, i have seen their pain jobs up close, and i can tell you = amazing. but with something like mercedes, get ready to pay through the nose. at least we got other great components like a reliable drive train, great awd capabilities, and good resale value due to the quality in the name/history.

all i can say is just keep a few bottles of touch up paint handy lol and wax your car regularly so you dont develop the dreaded sun-burn that many entry level pain jobs get.

Do you have a link for this?

When my Rogue has been repaired I am quoted a two stage paint job, and the insurance company pays extra for it. Since the estimating software specifies it, I assume this is how it is supposed to be repaired and how it is from the factory. If it was a single stage paint job I do not know why I keep getting a two stage paint job on my repairs.
