Hi'

I seem people removing the AIV assy from their cars...Is it really required?? What does it do??? I know is related to the gas levels on the exhaust system...but not really sure of what will happen if removed. Im using a MAF filter cone on my 240 1989 KA24 stock.....so the line that goes from AIV to the pre filter box is disconnected already.....

thanks

It filters fresh air into the exhaust stream to help the cat.

Does it serve a valid function? Yes. Is it necessary? Hell no.

Engine, brake master cylinder, and radiator. :)

Seriously, though, there's not too much else you can take out and not hinder performance. You might be able to get rid of the EGR and emissions systems, but you'd have to ask somebody who's removed it before how their engine ran afterwards.

Oh yeah, and take out the fan and put an electric one in.
