it can be done, you have to get 4 lug rotors though, probably get 5 lug 300zx rotors redrilled, thats what most people do if they want to keep 4 lug

either a)buy a set of redrilled rotors from one of our sponsors, or b)get a machine shop to redrill a set of Z rotors for you. Done.

Do redrilling 5 lug rotors to 4 lugs cause any unbalancing problems?

Weight differences because of the drilling is too centralized, won't affect the balance of the rotor.

so i take it that if you wanna use the z32 brkaes you must have the z rotors. i really don't wanna do this cause my rims are 4 lug and i love them (7 spoke 18's baby

also i hear redrilling your rotors will cause some serious problems in the future like warping and cracking

haven't heard anybody report cracking a rotor from having the lug pattern redrilled. Also, I have 4 lug Z rotors, and haven't had any unbalancing issues with them.

The only way I could see someone cracking a rotor is from overtightening their lug nuts, but then again, you run the risk of stripping lug studs when you do that.

ok, well i took a closer look at my rims a little bit ago and there are 8 holes for the lugs.....does this mean that my rims minght be able to fit a 5 lug patten?? if so why wouldn't there be 9 holes?? 4 for a 4 bolt patten and 5 for the other pattern??

some wheels just have 8. your wheels will only fit a 4x114.4 bolt pattern. for some reason, some companies put a second set of holes in the wheels even though they're useless holes

Have you tried a good set of pads? Not the crap you buy from Advance. For most people, a good set of pads is more then enough brake. I use carbotech pads, and they held up well to track use.

Quote »also i hear redrilling your rotors will cause some serious problems in the future like warping and cracking[/quote]You are most likely thinking about crossdrilling your rotors.

The rims with 8 holes are generally drilled to work with two different bolt patterns. Common ones are 4x114.3 and 4x100.

Man, I feel overwhelmed by all the options for my brakes; 4 or 5 lug, Z or aftermarket, drilled or slotted rotors, redrilling rotors. I wish someone would just make a whole package for less than 500 clams that would provide excellent stopping power. Ok I'm done whining now.

mine was less than 350, and that was 4 corners, mc, braided lines, and good pads.

It's called piece it together yourself.

My Z32 fronts cost a total of:Calipers w/ hardware- $150 from autozoneLines - $50 from splpartsRotors - $120 from stranoparts, +$20 for re-drillingPads - Hawk HP+, $100 or so

Total = $440, and I've got the hawk pads plus a set of generic cheap-o autozone brand pads that came w/ the loaded calipers.

my front calipers are rebuilt ones from advance, I just switched the pads for some axxis metal masters and have had no problems so far. the rears I got from a salvage yard, and no problem there either. I think I paid too much for the front calipers though... probably about 360 for some reloaded iron calipers. Not that iron is bad, they just weigh a brickload.
