is the 08 EX35 Steering Wheel the same as the 08 G35?

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

I am lookoing to replace the steering wheel in my 08 EX35 as the prior owner had abused it pretty well to where the leather has worn down and changed color on around 50% of the wheel. Being the dealership charges $1000 for a new one (which I find to be abhorent  ), I looked to online auction sites for a better deal. The only options that come up are for G35s, but with them being based on the same platform, and the pictures looking like they are identical, I am hopeful they are actually the same part number. I called my local dealer, but they refused to confirm this without having a VIN for each type of vehicle. Ridiculous. I am hoping someone on here has had experience with replacing the wheel themselves that can provide some guidance.

Thanks

I have removed mine to cover the scratched/chipped bezel with carbon fiber wrap. It really wasn't too hard at all, just be careful with the little black clips on the airbag connectors. There is a thread or two on my issues here somewhere.

For you, have you thought about just going to a nice leather upholstery shop and having them wrap a new layer of leather on your wheel? You might even like it better with it being a little thicker. Surely would have to be cheaper!

Thanks for the reply. I pulled the service manual on it and am a little hesitant to take the wheel off simply because of the TORX bolts not being reusable for the airbag assembly. Did you buy new bolts when you worked on yours?

I'm beginning to think the upholstery shop is going to be my best option. The last thing I want to do is get what looks like an exact replacement only to find out the internals are not. Hopefully I can find a good one here in Jax, Fl.

Thanks again
