Hi everybody, I have a question, I have heard that is better turn off the AC before turn off the engine, and when we turn on the engine, after this, turn on AC. Is there a problem with this? May my AC remains "on" always? I have a Versa (Tiida in México) 2009 sedan. Thanks an regards.

Hi there. Welcome to NiCO!

In my opinion it doesn't make a difference. Your A/C compressor is driven by a belt attached to your crankshaft, so the worst that could happen is that it might make the A/C belt slip a little bit or put an insignificant amount of extra load on your starter.

I am in the habit of always turning off the A/C before I shut off the car and turning it on after, but sometimes I forget or sometimes someone drives my vehicle who doesn't do things my way. I've never had any adverse effects from leaving it on.

i turn the air off before i get to where i am going to let the vents dry out a bit and it won't smell later on, like they do at times.

I wish I had A/C I miss that smell. Oh well it saves weight not having it.
