Now, why are you getting a bandpass!!?? Unless you listen to nothing but rap and don't care about accuracy then I strongly suggest a sealed or ported box. The sealed works great for all music, and it balances perfectly with the stock system (bose).
Trent, I think what I have is actually a sealed, ported, bandpass box. It was given to me a couple years ago, and fits two subs I got a long time ago (bought new for $40 in 2003, never used since then but stored well), Pioneer 400w IMPP 10's. They sit inside at a 45 deg angle a piece, there's a large window piece in the middle, and there are two large ports on each side.
Oh and this is going into my GXE, which came to me with an early-millennium Pioneer Super Tuner CD player. A Sony Bluetooth deck now occupies my half-din slot.
Rap is probably 10 percent of what I listen to on my stereo and the rap I listen to is 99% early-90's Beastie Boys.
I know the box with the 10's will probably overpower the 52x4 of my deck. That's why I'll probably have good enough cable for two amps back there, I'll amp the front Polks and surface mounts with a good 250/300w, and leave the rear 6 1/2 just-better than stock Pioneer's running stock wattage. My sub amp is a just-purchased used Coustic 401DB 400w class D monoblock. Apparently runs cool and efficient and doesn't usually need a cap.
I'm sure this will get me along just fine. I'll probably never stretch the bass capability of my bandpass, and really won't need to, I'll just use it to round out my system's sound.
Thanks for the grommet advice, and thanks everyone else so far for their info on this.
