Is running amp power lines to trunk in gen 5 really that difficult?

I just got my amp to go with my bandpass box/subs, and I'm ready to run my amp cables.

I've heard that running the wires in gen 5 cars is a difficult task. Is this true? Do I have to remove an inner fenderwell? Do I have to run the wires down with middle of the car or do they get routed through the rocker panel area?

i dont know man you could ask in the audio forum or just get someone to install for you. id imagine they'd go through the cabin under carpet and take out the parcel shelf if someone did it for you....dont know if that involves taking out the rear seats or not.

Removing the fender well on the driver's side is the easiest way to go through the firewall. The more difficult parts are poking your way through the grommet and finding the power wire on the inside of the car amidst all the other factory wires. Here are some great pics for running the power wire through the firewall...http://www.vqpower.com/v2/read..._id=9

I ran my power and remote turn on wires down the driver's side and my RCA's down the passenger side. There are 2 bolts (one on either side) under the trunk carpet that work nicely for grounding. Scrape away the paint and you're good to go.

There is a grommet in the firewall above the pedals. I cut a hole in that and ran the wire under that plastic door sill piece to the trunk. It will take some creativity. Now, why are you getting a bandpass!!?? Unless you listen to nothing but rap and don't care about accuracy then I strongly suggest a sealed or ported box. The sealed works great for all music, and it balances perfectly with the stock system (bose).

Trent, I think what I have is actually a sealed, ported, bandpass box. It was given to me a couple years ago, and fits two subs I got a long time ago (bought new for $40 in 2003, never used since then but stored well), Pioneer 400w IMPP 10's. They sit inside at a 45 deg angle a piece, there's a large window piece in the middle, and there are two large ports on each side.

Oh and this is going into my GXE, which came to me with an early-millennium Pioneer Super Tuner CD player. A Sony Bluetooth deck now occupies my half-din slot.

Rap is probably 10 percent of what I listen to on my stereo and the rap I listen to is 99% early-90's Beastie Boys.

I know the box with the 10's will probably overpower the 52x4 of my deck. That's why I'll probably have good enough cable for two amps back there, I'll amp the front Polks and surface mounts with a good 250/300w, and leave the rear 6 1/2 just-better than stock Pioneer's running stock wattage. My sub amp is a just-purchased used Coustic 401DB 400w class D monoblock. Apparently runs cool and efficient and doesn't usually need a cap.

I'm sure this will get me along just fine. I'll probably never stretch the bass capability of my bandpass, and really won't need to, I'll just use it to round out my system's sound.

Thanks for the grommet advice, and thanks everyone else so far for their info on this.

if you've got aftermarket speakers in the rear i would recommend gettin some sound dedener put under the parcel shelf.

ive said in another thread that one of my rear speaker covers vibrated and its really annoying if you've got it up and the subs make it rattle heaps.

even just under the parcel shelf and nowhere else would be ok i guess. i dont know if you were lokking into sound dedener or not. (if i remember correctly you wanted to get road noise out of one of your maxima's it was in another thread?)

Yeah, I want to mitigate road noise, and don't mind if it adds weight. So yeah I'll probably take a couple approaches to deadening and eliminating unnecessary noises.

You will also want to remove the rear sub in the deck (assuming you have the Bose system) to give your bass a good place to flow through. You won't want it back there trying to play with all the pressure from the (2) 10's anyway.

You shouldn't hear the rear speakers from the front seat. If you want a good sound stage then fade out the rears. I only play my amped factory rears if someone is sitting back there. My sound stage is right around my center vents, which is pretty good considering I have done nothing to adjust it.

It is extremely easy, shouldnt take more then 10-20 mins, unless your dumb brother broke the rear seats like mine did

i also only play most of the sound out of the front speakers, back ones are just there for people in the back and to make me feel like i have a completed system haha
