As the title says im thinking about running open downpipe on my z32, it is TT too, im thinking about running it until i get my straight pipe, ive seen many videos on Youtube of open downpipe Turbo Z's and even some Z's having a downpipe from the turbo running out the fender (LOL) but it sounds Amazing!!! so my question is will running open downpipe hurt anything on my VG? if so mabye unbolting it a little farther down the exhaust? so Help! :)

As long as there is at least 2 feet of pipe coming off of the turbo's you won't hurt anything. It will be loud as all get out, but you seem to know that already.

I drove my BMW around with nothing aft of the headers for a day, wicked loud. I suppose it would be ok for the track, but not something I'd do for any length of time.

I suggest ear plugs. And money in your pocket for noise violations, and some real pissed off neighbors.

They do muffle the sound a bit compared to an open header. But it's still ridiculously loud. I wouldn't drive like that any longer than I absolutely had to.

I ran mine with open 3" TPs which terminate at the diff for about a month, the sound is like angels raping demons in a hellfire orgy (LOVED it). Living in Houston it was not a huge problem since the cops are used to obnoxiously loud vehicles and most of the time don't care but then I did stay off the roads during peak hours. The neighbors grew to hate me within a day, I start the car, no one within a quarter mile radius is sleeping anymore. Driving any further than about a hour and my ears began to bleed. So, if you want to drive it on the streets, especially daily I would recommend against it, or at the least route the pipes out from under the car because most of the noise comes from the reverberations under the car.

After my engine rebuild and header install, I started my NA with open headers. Let me tell you... dear lord. My 66 mustang with open headers wasn't even that loud. Not really an option with an NA, no backpressure issues and whatnot
