Is NICO under attack?

I've not been around as much lately, but I'm catching up tonight and it seems like there has been a barrage of posts in the last week or so from newbies asking the kinds of questions that tick people off. some seem genuine, but some are just outright retarded. I'm seeing this mostly in the 240 forums. maybe its cuz summer is here and people are looking for a new car and the 240 is the new thing so we are getting a lot of newbies all of the sudden which is fine. but I can't help but wonder if some of these posters are people intentionally flooding us with stupid junk to discredit the NICO community. Anyone else see this, or should I just get some sleep?

I agree with you, and I appreciate you making a thread concerning this very subject. I haven't been around since the very beginning, but I too have seen the backsliding of the 240 forum. My guess is people who come in and post 25, 50, (hell, one guy posted something like 80 times in one day), I'd say these people are here for no other reason than to be a burden, cause disruption, and PI$$ people off. It'd be one thing if these new members contributed useful links, insights, or even wanted to discuss functional mods for their cars, but all I see is a great deal of postwhoring, and no quality content.

It's odd you mention this. Earlier I was having the exact same talk with our resident lady-Pirate, Skydragoness, about the maturity level and the poor content in some of the forums. Oh well, the mods do what they can. It's not a perfect world, but it could be a whole lot better.

Let's stay vigilant on this stuff. The 240 forums are always gonna be a bit harder to moderate, as they typically are younger and less mature users (present company excluded, of course).

I try to hit that area pretty hard to keep the BS, whoring, misinformation and irrelevancy to a minimum... However, it's a super active place, generating 4x the traffic of Infiniti General.

Just for the record, before his posts all get deleted.... a kid by the name of "240sxgtrguy" has started roughly 15 new threads, one after another, all in the 240 forum, with various useless titles such as "i am god" "support me" "ahahah" and so on. You get the point. He has spammed up NICO, and it's rather upsetting to see. Yes, I am up late, and I'm sure his posts will all be gone soon, but this is very upsetting. We need a late night Moderator.

yeah thats a very good idea. I also stay up very late. Im usually not for this, but 240sxgtrguy really does need to get his account banned. I really hate when forums use that usually *cough*freshalloy*cough* but at a certain point its required.

Thank you guys for keeping an eye out. Keep in mind that we Admins and Mods dedicate a lot of time to NICO (I put in probably 2 hours a day) and we can't catch everything - We rely on you guys to police your areas and to notify us if someone gets squirrely. So far, it's working well - 240sxgtrguy got OWN3D!
