Chevron is now(?) selling a "Techron Concentrate Plus" in addition to the older Techron additive bottles. They have two bottles, one for 12 gallon gas tanks, and one for 20 gallon gas tanks and it is supposed to be for "3000 miles", whereas the older bottle is marked for "1000 miles". Price at a local Kragen is approx double that of the older stuff, but still half that of BG-44K (give or take a few dollars, depending on your source).

Dennis and others, do you all know if this "concentrate" is similar (or even close) in concentration and quality to BG-44K? I know that BG-44K is what we all like to use here, but if this new concentrate is comparable in performance, it would be quite a bit cheaper.

Based on OLD experience when I lived 60 miles from my supply of BG44k, I used Techron with Chevron Premium with every other tankful to approximate the over all performance of BG44k. Tried to get by with this method for 3 years.

Easy to try, start with a clean engine BG44k before the oil change then use Techron for a month or two then BG44k to see if you can feel a difference.Modern high varnish fuels don't seem to require more than 1,500 miles of city driving to be noticeable.

Chevron Professional3-Step Fuel System Cleaner is recommended for a complete cleaning every 15,000 miles or annually. A copy of BG systemTECHRON® Concentrate is recommended for preventative maintenance every 3,000 miles or with each oil change.

Thanks, Dennis!

This above is the one I was referring to. I am thinking of giving it a try on my wife's Acura and compare to BG44K after 3000 miles. My M45 is running so smoothly right now that I doubt I'd see a perceptible difference with either product!
