V8 240sx? Sure! If either the chassis OR the engine is non-Nissan (i.e. SR20 in an RX-7 or LS1 in a 240sx), we've done it.

Im going with a rb20 xmember, hinson headers, and drive shaft, and car shop inc mounts. Is my X-member notched enough?& Do you think i will have any problems with my setup: rb20 x-member , car shop mounts, hinson header and drive shaft. I hear that the rb20 x member makes the mounting pod line up better with the lsx mounting location. Will it move the motor out of reach of my drive shaft??help????

Compared to similar cross members I've seen modified, yours looks on par with what has been proven to work. I can't say for sure what the RB20 CM combined with the other components will do for alignment and or drive shaft fitment.

Try it out is all I can say. Make adjustments as required, but do keep us in the loop.

Ive just finished fitting an ls1 into my r32 skyline with an rb crossmember. I have made my own mounts (which use the factory skyline rubbers) and notched my crossmember. I didnt notch it anywhere near as much as you have but i guess my mounts are the reason why. The only thing i would be worried about in your situation is that the mount locations on the rb crossmember are located much further foward than the sr/ca/ka crossmember mounts as you can see in your comparison picture, so it may pay to measure everything up when its sitting in place?

I'll probably be doing this soon... keep us posted on how it works out.

Are you planning on using corvette mounts as Hinson suggests?

Personally I think if the S14 cross member has mounting closer toward the rear then I'd be more inclined to use that for better weight distribution.

there will be absolutely no change in weight distribution because the focus of the weight will not move as its still attached to the frame at the same point, and you cant really move the engine back any farther no matter what crossmember you use.

the skyline crossmembers are easier to use for fabricating mounts as the engines mount plate and the pods on the crossmember line up perfectly.

and your crossmember looks fine.
