I checked the movement of my upper tensioner while it was on the engine and it wouldnt budge. i removed it and worked it by hand and now it seems fine.... should i put it back on or should i buy another tensioner?

sorry to create another thread, but i need an answer because my engine is open until i decide what to do... thanks!

They work by oil pressure, so it's really difficult to press the little piston in while it's on the car. Once you take it off, all of the oil runs out the little hole (or squirts out) and the only thing putting pressure on it is a little spring.

It sounds like the tensioner is working fine. Do you have reason to believe there's a problem with it?
