I have been quoted anywere from $250-700 for just paint not install of my stillen Fascia which will be white and gloss black like most peoples AC....

Everyone keeps telling me my paint is expensive which I find to be BS . However they are saying its a 3 stage job which makes some sense as to the high price. Im looking for $300 to paint my Fascia.... Is that unrealistic???

Thanks for the help

100% accurate. White then mica (pearl coat) then clear coat. It is the most labor intensive color out of any of our options. Additionally, it is the hardest to color match accurately. Not terribly surprising that the cost is high. For the paint alone, I would guess the cost would run only about $20 for the supplier (BASF or PPG most likely). Then the mark-up for body shops is probably about 400-500% bringing material cost to around $100. Add labor and baking costs along with install cost and what you're looking at isn't too unreasonable. Having never repainted my fascia, I would think $250 is a bit cheap and $700 is too expensive. Just my assessment though.

I'd say it's feasible, but still depends on a few factors. If the body shop is connected with others or is more of a chain, they might have more bargaining power with the paint supplier to get costs down.

Spraying auto paint is a bit of an acquired skill. With that acquisition comes higher paychecks. A shop that is too cheap might not do as good of a job. So lots of things play into it. A bigger shop might do better work, but they'll have more fixed costs which certainly get passed to the end user. Either way, when you get the work done, be sure to inspect the car before paying, and don't let them sell you a crappy job that doesn't match for color.

Painting does take skill but if you have the right equipment to do it, the results are phenomenal. I painted one of my race bike with 3 stage. the mid coat is where you'd spray the mica additive. Then you have 3 coats of clear then wet sand. it is labor intensive so I'm sure the cost is factored into the price.

Just remember this...

A good paint job isn't cheap and a cheap paint job isn't good

Choose wisely!

My 3000GT had pearl white paint and painting the rear bumper was 400 bucks. 3 stage paint as described. He also didnt charge me for the labor of removing the bumper because I would pay in cash. When my car was keyed back in HS it was 750 for the rear quarter panel and passenger door.
