100% accurate. White then mica (pearl coat) then clear coat. It is the most labor intensive color out of any of our options. Additionally, it is the hardest to color match accurately. Not terribly surprising that the cost is high. For the paint alone, I would guess the cost would run only about $20 for the supplier (BASF or PPG most likely). Then the mark-up for body shops is probably about 400-500% bringing material cost to around $100. Add labor and baking costs along with install cost and what you're looking at isn't too unreasonable. Having never repainted my fascia, I would think $250 is a bit cheap and $700 is too expensive. Just my assessment though.DReed86 wrote:However they are saying its a 3 stage job which makes some sense as to the high price.
I would like to have the shop do this as well so Im thinking based on what you said $400 for both????deasonz wrote:I think i'm the first to color match tails.

I'd say it's feasible, but still depends on a few factors. If the body shop is connected with others or is more of a chain, they might have more bargaining power with the paint supplier to get costs down.DReed86 wrote:I would like to have the shop do this as well so Im thinking based on what you said $400 for both????

I quess my real questions is..... Do you think $400 for that work will get me a good paint job or should I expect more in the $500 range??? Also should I got to a shop like Macco or someone else??? Any recomenation on good shop chains??dangeris wrote:Just remember this...
A good paint job isn't cheap and a cheap paint job isn't good
