So my car runs like *** and im thinking it is because of a vacuum leak or a bad MAF? When I rev the car up the rpm's will start to go down but when it hits about 1500 or sumwhere around there it stays there for about 5 seconds then slowly makes it way down to about 800 and will hold a pretty steady idle. When I disconnect my MAF it really dosent make a big difference but then when I plug it back in it makes a loud hissing noise and idles like crap for a second then goes back to normal....so does this mean my MAF is crapping out on me? Any help would be great because I have been having this problem for a wyle now and need to get this crap figured out.

I will offer this--my idle was terrible, sometimes dropping all the way down and then dying. A Nissan dealership person suggested (I was about to buy a MAF or replace o sensor) that I spray some carb cleaner in my intake. The car idled perfectly at 1000 for about a day. Then a friend told me to keep spraying the stuff it would not hurt anything. I did again last night and today idling perfect again. Just an idea and MAF are expensive!---good luck

if your maf was goen' bad by unplugen' it the car should run better. the ground wire's go bad on the conectors. make sure the maf harness is good

personally i think the alchohol in carb cleaner isn't very good for your MAF. The best stuff to use would be denatured alchohol, theres chemicals in carb cleaner that arent very good for it and denatured alchohol will work till the MAF or related parts go bad.
