Swapped in a used Ka24de along with 5 speed transmission into my s14. At first the car would start, rev real high, drop down and die. I cleaned the IACV and moved the throttle cable so its just partially open to help it idle which somewhat helped though it still bounces around down low and shakes/bogs. now its making this terrible knocking noise. Is my engine ****ed? link to the sound below

When i did the timing i put it at TDC on pulley and distributor at TDC also, could my cams be off still or something? hoping for the best, not wanting to tear apart the engine. Thanks guys.

**edit** Ok so i went out again and it doesn't do it consistently, but every once in awhile it gives off a real loud pop/bang. not like a backfire but like something is hitting something real hard. Got the noise a few times in another video. What could this be??

It also smells like its running really rich. Pulled the plugs and their all covered in black carbon. Should I check the injectors? I'm still hoping maybe my timing is off. The sound seems to be coming from the front of the engine and its LOUD
