turn key to ON and fan starts, A/C won't come on (compressor not engaging)check engine light is on and can't flash diagnostic codes red light stays on regardless of potentiometers position

Car was running great for the last year, Got it smogged to sell yesterday, and Guy says passed everything except check engine lamp not functioning

I rotated the ECM's self diagnosis potetiometer clockwise for 2 seconds back to normal run posistion check engine light now functioning (stays on too) and now the car runs like hell, with the above sypmtoms

I think the ECM maybe hosed, to top it off I think the shop that did my sensors
damaged the potentiometer, as it worked fine last time I scanned my codes

now the screw is all tight and hard to turn, it sorta binds and on further inspection they busted one of the "Ears" off the screw ur um knob

I had to call the potential buyers and give them the good news

I think need to buy an ECM N/A auto trans calif model any love from you locals

Tried unplugging the battery leaving it for a bit then hooking it back up. Sounds like they definetely messed sometihng up with the ecu if the screw wont turn, its supposed to turn easily.
