Ok well here seems to be my plan for a project car. Currently I have a 2000 prelude that I am hoping to keep as my daily driver. For over the past couple months I have been looking for an 89-95 fastback, I would really love a 97-98, but that is a little too much $ for a project car and if I did get one I would most likely have to sell the prelude in order to be able to afford it. What would you guys suggest I do if you were me. Keep the lude and get an S13 or sell it and build up and S14 or S15. What kind of money have you guys invested into your cars to get them to where they are today No flames please I'm still learning :)

Keep the lude and add an S13.Sometimes you can pick up one already swapped, for not too much money.

I was looking at this myself, still kinda am.

Just a note, we only had the S13 and S14, no S15 for us. The 97-98 is the S14a, 95-96 was the S14, and the 89-94 was the S13. The lude is a nice car, I'd say just keep it and buy an S13 and fix that up. Just a thought though.

I kind of pissed, they had a 89 fastback at the dealership that my dad works at, but when I called him about it they had already sold it. I probably could have gotten it for around $1,200 :(

Keep the lude. S13s are sexy. I dunno if they are AS sexy as S14s, but they are hot, nonetheless

Sweet looking 'lude. I'd keep that while doing an S-13 project.

I say keep the prelude. If your new car is truly gonna be a project car you might want to have something else to drive for those long spanses when our projects tend to stay up on jackstands. I say I have spent around $6,000 on my car thus far. Total will be around $14,000 when it is done. Including swap and some other goodies.

^^well that's a little more helpful. What would you guys say are the pros and cons with the s13 -vs- the s14. What do I need to keep an eye out for with problems and such or recalls with either models?

S13 is older and could have more stuff worn out. If it is a project car though who cares just upgrade that stuff too. :batman Try for a nice clean 91-93 coupe. Not that I am biased torward the coupe or anything. :D

Sell the Prelude, sell all your belongings, sell one kidney and purchase a R34.

HOlistic has the right idea! No seriously, I'd keep the lude. I really like them anyway. There is a guy locally that his done up very tastefully. Just enough rice, but not too much. Pretty damn fast too. I think he's got a CAI headers, exhaust, and different cams. Beat the crap out of my friends TSi running 12lbs of boost. Course it was a highway run (wangan)

i second that, but if your more like the rest of us, go with the s14, damn sexy car if you ask me, and newer technology, although that doesnt always matter. In my area an s14 can be picked up for about 3500 to 6000 depending on miles and condition and model, but thats around these parts. Good luck on your search!

the prelude is nice but depending what u done to it.. and the miliage.. im sure u can get 15,000 or more.. right? that can buy u a nice 1995+ and have alot of money to make the thing anything u want.. i like s13's btu i bought a s14 because the newer stlying and there so hot looking stock.. my suggestion.. find a 1997 for about 7000 or probally get one with high milage for like 6000 and swap for the sr20det for 2000-2500 and do whatever else u want.. and its gonna get alot more looks and alot alot faster then the prelude.. what do u guys think about this

The prelude is an H22 and I think it would be better to have a back-up car. I know from experience that nothing ever goes like its supposed to when you are working on a car, and having a back-up is VERY nice. I'd keep the lude, get an S13, and then when you run out of money, sell the lude and put that money into the 240 also.

the prelude is an expensive back up car imo...i say sell the prelude and use the 15,000 or so and buy 2 s13's...one in good shape with low mileage(if you can find one) and another to have as your project car (if you dont care if its running or not, you can find them dirt cheap) my $.o2 :)

thanks for the input guys. I probably won't be looking until next summer, but I just wanted to get a head start on everything, that way I don't get myself into something I can't make happen.
