Is it weird that I can start the car without pushing down the clutch?

perhaps if you look in the 240sx.org FAQ you could see if there is a safety lock/switch of some sort that is out of whack. being able to start the car, (and if you car is in gear when you parked it) would be pretty damn scary i think. (of course. you wouldn't be doing that with that prob)

Sometime we bypass the clutch switch to install remote starters on cars. I know this is a bad thing to do but if the customer wants it done we do it. The only catch is they have to leave their car in Nuetral. The only thing holding their car in place is the emergency break. DJTME install note 1:Stress to owner that this is a bad idea and put it in writting.

I've seen cars with the switch disconnected, it's actually fairly easy to just fool with the little button so that it acts as if it's on all the time. I know on my old Toyota pickup we had a button that said "clutch override" so you could start the truck by pushing the button and turning the key. I really liked that feature, it meant I didn't have to sit down in the car to start it. But yes, without a button like that it is sort of dangerous. Check under your clutch pedal to see if the little button has been monkeyed with, perhaps you can get it all straightened out.

yeah it isnt that big of a deal. i have an 87 honda civic that i actually took the clutch switch and used it for the brake pedal switch. but then again its a honda and i blast caution barrels with it.
