My 2000 Q45 started making a bad whining sound that is coming from the drivers side, I took it to a close shop that I trust and the mechanic said the car has been lowered too low and the steering rack is binding internally, also the power steering pump is shot. I have original struts with Tein S-tech springs, someone on a different vip site suggested that I cut 1 coil off of each spring because the teins dont drop the car much at all. Well it was a bad idea, the car became such a pain to drive around, high centering sometimes... just lucky I didnt destroy a cat and only trashed a muffler. The front struts are blown so the car sits a bit lower than it should even with a spring cut, does it seem that the mechanic is right? did the car being too low ruin the steering system? Ive seen some Q45 with coil or air bags that are super low, has there been issues with binding the steering rack?
