Is my ca18det an '89 or newer?

I need to know if its an '89 or newer, so i know if i can install a super afc2. Anyone know how i can tell this?

Whats so special about it? all RWD CA18DETs should be 89 model year or newer..

True, in Japan the S13 was released in 88/05, by western thought this is '89 model year' usually already... but still, whats the difference between 88 and 89+ ?

nothing. it'll work fine on any s13 year CA18DE/T. I think they were trying to make sure you didn't use it on an s12 version silvia...

Which would be a CA18ET, that's what I was thinking they might have meant by 89+.. but I wanted to know if the safc2 info said anything about whats different

Actually some later S12s did have the CA18DET.

I have a Japanese TV commercial for a S12 Silvia RS-X that says "Twin Cam 16 Valve Turbo" in the video, so yes, they did make a CA18DET S12 in Japan.

They never gave us the cool stuff! But in answer to the original question, if you have a CA18DET, the SAFC will work fine.

the rs-x you talking about was an s12 silvia with a FJ20E motor

BUT yes in it's final year the s12 did come with the ca18det NON intercooled!they made a very limited # of these so that's why you don't find them around!like canada never saw the vg30e powered s12 only usa
