At age 69, Ronald Reagan is to date, the oldest person ever elected the U.S. Presidency. He served as the 40th. President for 8 years, leaving office at the age of 77.

John McCain was born on the 29th. day of August, 1936, making him 72 this year. If McCain is elected president, he will become the oldest person elected to that office.

The presidency is one of the most stressful jobs in America. Couple Sen. McCain age with the heavy stress he would face, there is a possibility that his age may fail him during the next 8 years, allowing the Vice President to become President.

This means you may be electing the 44th. and the 45th. president when you vote in November. Considering this, who is the best choice for his running mate, and why?

72 is getting up there and his various health problems including cancer... maybe he should just call it quits.

remember when 911 happened, how the guys over at the 700 club said that jews and homosexuals were behind the 911 attacks, well senior McCain happens to be a big supporter of the 700 club... meanwhile obama hates white people, and hillary is still a woman..... and we know women get emotional over all sorts of ****.... so while mccain is still getting older, his left side of his face is getting more swollen(cancer) we are going to get a crappy president either way... what i want to know is why they are not talking about how they are going to pull us out of the recession we are currently in?

No offense, but knowing Pat Robertson's theology I find it very hard to believe that he blamed the jews for 9/11. He is a Pentecostal that subscribes very heavily to "Dispensationalism" for the Jews.

DriftcardotnetYour "jews and homosexuals" comments are not appropriate in a discussion about whether McCain is too old for the job. I'm giving you the benefit here and leaving my comment at that. No more though.

^ Well that's a brilliant and well-thought out post.

I'm not a big supporter of any of the candidates, but I'd propose that he's as fit as either of the others.

I'd also propose that flying a fighter jet, being tortured as a POW by a hostile enemy, and confronting a life-threatening illness is MUCH harder and stressful than being the Commander-in-Chief.

I can guarantee you neither of the other candidates could handle those things.

Just a thought... For the record, I'd be more concerned about his mental acuity than his chronological age, and at this point, he seems to be pretty damn sharp mentally.

No doubt that he HAD the right stuff at one time. No doubt that he suffered and paid a price while in the Navy. But the question is really whether or not he can serve an 8 year term, or whether he will suffer from the Too Many Birthdays disease before his 8 years are up.

None of this takes away any respect or gratitude I have for the man for what he has done for his (our) country.

Agreed, and a valid concern.

I just think Reagan (who, like him or not, history regards as one of our greatest Presidents) was less "sharp" at his age than McCain.

Just a comparison. Chronologically, I don't think it's a huge deal.

Well, Regan had the appearance of a man in his late 40's. McCain has the appearance of a man his age and that is the difference.

But I don't think that age or the color of ones hair should affect weather you should vote for someone. I look at their views and at how "sharp" they are and in the case of McCane he seems to be fine in that regard.
