well i have a problem cause i was driving my car pretty hard the other day and all of a sudden it sounds like a my tire was flat, but my friends was checking it out in a parking lot an they said its not the tires but its coming form the rear end so i thought it might be my brakes or my differential becuase some oil of some type was leaking very lightly from where the differential is i dont know if it is a leak or what but im pretty scared of driving it. also when i drove it home i=on the highy way i could hear a wineing noise as well. please help???

#1 lsd is great#2 its up to you to decide which type of lsd you want by using the search button at the top of this page#3 are you sure the problem is your diff? i dont think they ruin very often...you might want to check into that more

lsd's are a good thing.

even if its your brakes you should still consider upgrading the lsd.

well see i dont know where the leaking is coming from and i think i was hearing some wineing or squealing when taking a turno on a off ramp off the highway, so i have no idea but it was clicking in the parking lot, when i moved forward or if i moved backwards the clicking noise was there but drove it on the highway very slow got off highway heard the squeal for a little, then when i got home the clicking had stoped but my car also when mashing the gas would not speed up as fast a it used to, but it could be the brackes rubbing and maybe i need new rotors and or calipers???? i have know clue

I dont think he is asking if LSD is a good upgrade or not. I think he is asking if his LSD is busted.... but I could be wrong

get it up in the air, take stuff apart and inspect

so maybe Im wrong. But really- Is LSD good or Bad is one hell of a rhetorical question.

BTW- that Ebay link dosent specify if its a LSD or open, judging by the price its open.

seriously, go take off your wheels and look at the brakes, then look closely at this leak

i would love to get in the air myself but i have no place to do it. so that means i will have to pay for labor, i could just get new brakes rotors and and a new differential and then just pay some one to put all stuff on for me. myees13 yes i am asking to see if some thinks that my differential is bad or not.

no i know that the one on ebay is a stock differential im just saying if mine is bad then i should buy his to replace mine with it, the oil was leaking from the differential area from the middle of the car, thats why i think its the diff. but i could be wrong cause i was parked with the engine running and the oil would be on the ground when i moved from the middle of the car (says my friend)

here is what i would do bro...top off the oil in your differential...usually when the diff is very low or almost out of oil it will make a loud and i mean loud clunking/ knocking noise...in your case maybe its just a little low and making the squealing noise...after you top that off if it still makes the noise top off the oil in your transmission...if that doesnt work fix your brakes

alright that sounds like a good idea but i just droped it off at a shop and they are charging me 45 bucks to identify the problem and one of the guys that works there used to work for nissan so i will wait to see what they say.

cool bro one more thing..do you have the stock diff on there? if so its called an open diff not a lsd..they are two totally different things..i dont want you to get flamed for saying you have lsd and someone sees you really have an open diff..the only way you have lsd factory is if you have a hicas equipped s13..some of the s14s came with lsd iirc but i dont know which ones

well i guess its somewhat possible to see smoke coming from both tires while your driving but it sure as hell aint possible to see them spinning...are you sure it wasnt the wind blowing the smoke from your right tire over to the left side of the car making it look like both tires smoking? just go out and spin your tires..get out of the car and look for how many tire marks you left..one or two

actually mine does the same thing. Whenever i would finish washing my car, i would do burn outs (in my long drive way) and when i would return to the scene, i would see both tire marks, but eventually along the trail, i would only see one leading off the other so mine is also confusing. and its said that the passenger rear wheel has the main power, so why does my driverside sometimes leaves the trail and not my right side???

well it comes to find out that the clicking noise was the emergency brake cable rubbing against the drive shaft, and the leak of oil was my rear calipers and the guy at the shop said the rear brake pads and rotors where completly done, so i replaced them and he cliped the emergency cable and its all good now
