Dealers all around US sell parts to independent shops at a discount based on their annual volume............some shops get 15-25% discounts. Dealers have a fleet of parts trucks to deliver thes parts to the shops.
Our 3 shops buy inexcess of $1 million in dealer supplied parts.
If you are new in Town, the Parts guys can tell you which independents buy the most parts, a very good indicator off which independent is worth investigating.
Remember I describe the Parts Department as the most profitable department in a dealership, next comes Used Cars, Finance, then Service, with New Cars falling last - if profitable at all.
Independents try to avoid oem parts because they get half the discount from dealers that they get from say NAPA or other national dealers.
"Average annual revenue per employee is about $700,000 for wholesalers; $100,000 for small retailers; and $175,000 for large retailers."
