I had a former co-worker from Canada that brought along her car. It was an Acura CSX (Honda Civic with leather). I'll try to answer the question this way. One always loose in selling and buying a car. You are paying for someone's commission both ways. So it's better to keep you own car even if you have to pay the taxes, fees, smog check etc. Everybody wants some $$$, but it's still cheaper then the cost of buying and selling your current car.
If you are looking to get out of it, then that's a different story. If you love your car, and would get basically the same thing, I would ship your car over.
As for warranty, I don't know. Again, from the Honda side, often a recall only applies to US models and not Canadian when it's made in the exact same factory plant. Maybe Canadians are not sue happy so they don't care about recalls up north.
My co-worker had her car serviced by a Honda dealer and they took care of her. There was no major problems so the warranty never comes into play. If it's something minor, I believe the dealer just took care of it. I mean, if she just paid $350 for a 3yr/36K month service, they fix the loose mirror for free and call it "goodwill repairs."
