So it seems my front struts are blown, no fluid in them left, when I take them off they slide with out any resistance. Is it worth ordering individual parts or should I order all new front struts?

Depends if there is damage to the strut cylinders. How does the oil leave the cylinders?

The inserts are $50 less than the whole strut from Joe. You will need bearings and probably a mount also at the minimum.

Do read your trunk sometime!

Yes, that is the same as

Joe and his crew are the best for price and service.

Be sure to have your VIN handy. And get all the parts your need.

Oh, and get a quote from Infiniti of Kirkland first to present to the city. Have them replace everything that is worn.

Are they tearing up 15th Ave. NW? Haven't been up there for a couple of years.

This is the first time I ever heard of the government paying to replace damaged shocks. Do most cities do this? If so how do you put in a claim?

Road maintenance. Reimbursement varies widely by municipality.

Check out my recent post on my 00 Q45 suspension re-hab. There are a lot of additional parts that should be replaced to bring back to new performance

If your driving down the street and your wheels sinks into a 17in pothole, bends your wheel and blows your shock(s) ya the city will pay, every city has a claims dept.

Since shocks only last 4-6 years depending on mileage [60k] and roads. Why do you think the other tax payers in your State should pay for your undone mainteances?

Im buying my struts out of my wallet, I was being slightly sarcastic when I said Seattle DOT should pay.

But if I blew a good strut from a pothole that shouldnt be there, or a joke of a construction team is repaving and they leave a 3in lip from one pavement to the other and you blow your struts even going 20 then hell ya tax payers should pay it because they shouldnt have had the lip there, or if the road needed to be closed, then they should have done that.

Seattle road construction is terrible, theyll repave a huge section of road, shutting down lanes for weeks, only to rip it all up again less then a year later

happens all the time here

Better check your suspension first before ordering as there may be other bent parts.

You have some serious damage caused by negligence. The slippery slope, if any, is likely to be from DOT to Contractor to Insurance Co.The Contractor has probably put some funds in his budget for such damage. I would call and write Contractor with copies to DOT and then hope someone actually responds. Good luck.

He said he was just kidding, he only cares about fixing it. I drive up in the Puget Sound all the time and I'm very happy that it is all in a rental car. That place makes Boston look good on road work

You need to get a good mechanic that understands this strut system to look at this if your going to be any good results, your pretty much outmanned unless your one hell of a smart and good shade tree mechanic.
