You can't rebuild it, you could prob use the housings and put another turbo in it tho.

Never recommend that to anyone else, ever. Those "cheap ebay turbos" are exactly that. The really cheap ones have their housing GLUED together.. Stay away from "cheap" when dealing with something as important as a turbo.

Thats not a good idea at all, A cheap quality turbo can ruin a motor.

You can find pretty cheap newer replacements from garret and precision. But then again if you want to stay stock thats up to you.

All you people posting that ebay turbo's are worthless---quit posting third hand regurgitated internet wisdom unless you have first hand knowledge. The glued xs power turbo's were like 10 years ago. There is a lot of crap out there that is usable now. Not the best, but still, worth putting on a car. You are just repeating what you heard and don't know what you are talking about.

Do you guys have any "drop in" turbos that would be good to replace the stock Rb25 turbo?

look up mjmturbo.com i think he can build you a stocker t28 garrett. it would be wise to just upgrade and use something like this

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...55996

they make some for t28 - t3 adapter.

Considering a buddy of mine installed an a ebay turbo, Which I believe was an XS product. The turbo lasted less then 30seconds after the car was started, something happend where the fins came apart and went flying thought the rest of the motor. I believe a bearing failed or something of the sort. Im not saying ebay products arent of any quality im just not sure I would go buying such a vital a part of a setup that cant be trusted. I have known people that have had success with ebay products just not enough to say that I would go ebay over other options.

Im not trying to start an argument, Im just saying I have other experience then what ive read on the internet.

Welp, I stand corrected on your experience with them. I just hate when people regurgitate internet "knowlege" as fact just because they've seen it typed a bunch of times. Not the case here I guess.

Interesting side note--fearsometea finaly had his ebay turbo **** the bed after 3 years at over 500rwhp. Inducer on the compressor shattered for the most part and the pieces pulled themselves forward into the air filter Might have had something to do with running 2 bar though Stock headgasket FTMFW!
