I've been looking around for a decent 240sx to pick up to start working on. This came up and I started reading on it. The guy says he used GumOut fuel injector cleaner now the car won't run. Any idea what that would be? I'm still in the process of looking for any sort of 240sx to pick up but I figured if this was a simple fix, it would be a decent deal.

Thanks for your help!

I can tell you just by looking at it, that it's going to need more work than it's worth. You're better off spending another grand or two on a car that's in clean shape.

Yeah man you need to find something better than that. That car is probably worth $300-500 because of it not running and probably a hacked up harness. Seriously, I wouldn't give him more than $1000 for it.

Obviously the "serious" sound system is the selling point lol

Holy hundreds of speakers Batman! I never have understood the compulsion to load a car up with as many subs as possible and then drive it around while the system literally rattles the car to pieces.

Word, my girlfriends cousin had a beater (pos car, not referring to the system) that literally would rattle the license plate off. God knows what else was ready to fall off. Luckily he got rid of it before he lost the wheels. it's nice to have some good speakers maybe a little bump but some things are just ridiculous. It's real big down here where I'm at for guys to have two three times $ in stereo equipment than their cars worth. Luckily they set an ordinance a few years back, it's really annoying hearing BOOM BOOM BOOM through your house while trying to sleep from cars passing by.

I thought we all got over that BS after high school lol. I even get annoyed when someone is sitting in the parking lot outside my apartment thumping their stock sound system.

oh btw OP, on the car: RUN! You don't want any part of that fustercluck!

Do a comp test on the motor. If all cyl push 160 or close to it I'd pay 800 for it. It'd be worth it for parts and sell everything else. 5 lug the motor seats belt and carpet and sell the rest for 800 to someone else and find a s13 lol. S14 carpet to remove the annoying auto seat belts take the seat belts from the s14 and use the carpet to get rid of the holes from the auto belts in the s13. Use the 5lug swap the LSD out of the s14 with the open from the 13 and your on your way.

The gum out thing is possible. If he treated like a 1/8 of a tank and that's it could of loosened gunk and clogged the filter. Try replacing it and also spray starting fluid in the tb if it starts its a fuel issue

I disagree, that car obviously has been owned by an idiot for a while, nothing will be in good condition, nothing will command a decent price parting it out. Just leave it, much better examples can be had for the same type of money.

My 1.5 cents.

IF you know that you'll be keeping the car until the wheels fall off AND you're ready to put some serious money into it, you could offer the owner $800 and try to walk away with an OK shell.

But if you're not ready to do all of that, then walk away.
Because from the looks of it, you're basically buying a shell and not even a decent one at that.

looks decent to me, this car would sell for alot more in the pnw. it really depends on if you want to build a car or just buy one.
