Im having a lot of trouble with my car right now and i wanna swap an sr20 into my 92 240sx. I called a local garage and they told me they would do the swap for me for 5,000 dollars. The 5 grand is for the motor, intercooler and piping, new fuel pump and exhaust, dynotuning it, and whatever else the car needs for the swap. He also said that he would give me a 30 day warranty on the motor and if something broke he would replace it free of charge. Also they are great with the sr engine. I dont have a good place to do the swap at my house and i really dont have any experience with this kind of stuff either. But anyway what do you guys think? Am i getting a bad deal or does this sound reasonable?

I guess the price isnt too shabby. But I would do some more research on the motor before you jump into it. Just to make sure you know what you're getting into.

It's a little expensive, but I guess that's understandable if you're having a place do it for you. Is it a fmic or the stock smic?(intercooler)And like he siad, learn about it before you do it

Just beat the crap out of it for the 30 days to really test it. The price is about right. Most places probably charge $85+ an hour for labor. Not sure if throwing it on a dyno is totally necessary, but I guess it shows if its running properly so they can make that 30 day guarantee free of charge worth it for them before they send you off in it.

It's a bit high, but reasonble. What type of intercooler and what type of exhaust are they going to put on?

$5000 sounds reasonable to me... If they'll take care of all the [inevitable] small costs that come up during the swap and guarantee a running product in the end I'd be happy with that.
