Just wanted to know what you guys thought since u guys know alot about 240...

Before judging so quickly "EWW THAT THING IS UGLY" if i plan to do the trade he has all the stock bumpers and whatnot. The reason i'm trying to get rid of my 300 is because i have no job and not enough mechanical skills to work on it. I find it very hard and expensive to work on these cars.

Is a KA-T a reliable setup? If not CAN u make it reliable? I'll need it as a DD

although 300s can be costlyCrappy 240s can be too.

they are however easy to work on for the mechanically disabled.now before you go trading your nice low mileage TT 300zx for a Pre-turboed KA-t 240 think about it.you do not know the history of that car/ the motor build/ the turbo setup.the seller could tell you anything to get you to buying

judging from the way the car looks the im guessing the seller had this car built by a shop and slapped on the gay wing/wheels/sideskirts/ yad yada...so i doubt he can tell you all that went in to the build.

and another thing about KA-ts.. they can be very reliable if done correctly ting is with a used one from another owner for all you know that car could have been beating the piss out of.

a well tuned well put together KA-t can last 300whp on stock internals(i've seen this done)tune is just about everything with the ka-t setups. to keep the motors running in a safe rage of operation.

i think your better off buying a mint 97 S14 and swapping a stock SR into it if you want comparable power to your 300zx

Well lets just say ...>IF< everything was done right and reliable with a koo build would it be worth it?

i WOULD rather buy a shell and swap in a motor with the help of some friends BUT at the same time my 300zx is very hard to sell!

The owner claims the car is in great shape.. so when i check it out what should i be looking at and what questions should i be throwing at him?

I wouldn't touch that car with a ten foot pole.

It's clearly been built in that late 90's - early 00's style that we've now defined rice. Assuming you don't like the way it looks, most people won't, it's going to take a lot to get it modernized.

In reference to the engine, KA-T's can be great and be reliable, odds are if this one is built well you won't have any problems with it. That being said, the car may not have been built correctly and you may run into issues down the line.

If I were you I'd see if someone else would trade a nicer more stock or more tastefully modified 240 for the TT but that's just me.

Wait it out and find a cleaner one. Your car is def. nicer and worth more than his. although it is pretty easy to swap body stuff. assuming its all the same color as the rest of the car. Those seats need to go too!! The engine bay looks pretty clean so he more than likely did a good job with it but like they say..... its all in the tune.

I wouldn't trade him straight up, his car is not worth $9500 ( maybe to him)Also its a bit and to un -rice it would cost you even more to fix
