hey guys i see some of you have really nice rides and hooked them up. i just wanted some opinions is it worth trying to hook up a 2.5 with performance enhancement items? ex... exhaust/intake/performance chips..... stuff like that. seeing that even with all of those thing it will never be a 3.5.....comments?

it is not worth it if you get exhaust/intake/chip for performance!!! adding these won't make your 2.5L any much faster.

but if you just want to hear a nice exhaust and intake sound then it is worth it.

I beg to differ I put a header, intake and did a custom exhaust job on my 05 2.5 and it made a WORLD of difference I'm getting ready to put stage 2 cams in her I plan on getting them from Jim Wolf or Brian Crowley(or is it Crowler?)can't wait. would still love to have a 3.5 though especially an SE-R as for performance chip I have never put one in any car that I have owned never really wanted to take the chance

Guys ty for the great input. so heres another question. which would be more beneficial to buy first, an intake or an exhaust?

depends.

K&N just released an intake for the 2.5 getting you about +7hp - most of them will do around that.

Exhausts differ depending on which one you get, the NISMO sounds great but apparently doesn't get that much of an increase, whereas others give you some HP increase.

It's all preference. I would get an exhaust first because of the sound. Most of your bolt on mods aren't going to change your performance too much...

Intake is a cheaper one, id go with a fujita off ebay if you can grab one...

Im a fellow 2.5er, you wont bridge the 70hp gap to a 3.5 but you will get a little more juice outta the car, and the sound/persona is a whole different game!

3.5 = 270hp2.5 = 175hp

270 - 175 = 95

There is a 95 hp difference.

Math FTW!

performance chip? are u talking an actual chip or flashing the ecu.if you are speaking of flashing the ecu it could be very beneficial and show remarkable gains. In my WRX i have turbo back exhaust, intake, flashed ECU as well as upped boost and i had a gain of around 70hp @ the flywheel. so the ecu reflash worked wonders. made a big difference.however i dont believe there are any reflash programs out for the 4th gen as of right now, but i may be wrong.
