I found a `89 black, coupe with HUD, 94k miles, one spot of rust, oxidized hood, no sunroof, PW, no spoiler, good interior and oh yeah, shot automatic transmission :( for about $700.

I plan to eventually do the SR swap and would want a 5 spd power steering and A/C.

Is it worth it or should I wait?

i don't think you'd want something with rust unless you want a big project. rust could end up being like cancer. it doesn't look that bad on the outside, but once you look around...

Well....The rust problem might not be that big of a deal, it depends on the size of it, the location ect. Also if he is in a northern state, rust is pretty unavoidable.$700 sounds pretty good, but then again the price of project cars always sounds good when you calculate how much everything will cost. It is those unforseen problems that rack up the $$$

The rust could be worse, but it seems that most of the northern cars have some rust (like Radian said). My concern is the extra work of making it a manual and then the extra work/parts for the SR swap. A black coupe (no spoiler) is what I want. I even prefer the seats in the 89-90. It would be nice to drive it for a while with the KA.

Is the rust surface or all the way through? If it is just surface rust then sand it and primer it/touch up paint.

The spot of rust that I saw was actually a hole. But then I didn't notice it anywhere else.

Is there much more hassle with the tach and PS?
