Wondering why you would need a rebuilt shy of 100k to start. I could get on a box and shout the value of the 2nd gen, but i know too many people that had no issues with 1st gens of this year for 200-300k. You just got one that was made on the wrong day, too bad. My Nissans have all lasted a hell of a long time, my 300ZX is a 84' and has the original motor going strong after 165k and plenty of hard driving.

Any indication (or history) of the car running hot, possibly more than once, at some point in the past, or the spark plug tube being filled with oil from a leaking cover seal for an extended period of time?

i know i'm not on the forum much these days--but did i miss something? what rebuild? what is it doing now? 120 is not in spec, but it's still doing some work....

I'm thinking maybe #2 injector wasn't seated properly and is letting fuel past the lower o-ring and flooding the cylinder. Before giving up on the poor girl try reinstalling #2 FI with new orings and a gob of vaseline. #2 is easy to get to without removing the plenum.
